Bring the kids, bring friends, and bring your appetite: Woodstockâs newest dinner hot spot, Dixon Roadside, is a modern take on 1950s and â60s dine-and-go eateries serving up locally sourced, nostalgic comfort food. This casual roadside restaurant harkens back to classic Americana with authentic mid-century touches: a service-station vibe, welcoming staff, counter service, and hearty specials served in TV dinner trays. But what truly stands out is Dixonâs fresh, gourmet cuisine.

Locals and weekenders alike had high expectations for their menu after hearing that Dixon was brought about by the owners of Phoenicia Diner, who took a classic highway diner and put it on the map as a dining destination with farm-fresh fare and Instagram-worthy meals. The new spot brings the same level of culinary talent, and pairs it with a cool retro environment thatâs welcoming to all.
Dixon is located at the site of the former Gypsy Wolf Cantina, a beloved restaurant on Tinker Street that shuttered its doors in 2014. The building was revitalized to meet the roadside aesthetic, with a casual, inviting atmosphere and large garage doors that open to a covered outdoor patio for al fresco dining in warmer weather.
The menu includes daily specials like Monday's veggie freeto pie, Tuesday's smoked baby back ribs or Thursday's turkey dinner ($22 each); mainstay dishes like barbecued beef brisket (delish!), crispy chicken, mac and cheese, grilled fish, and ancho smoked squash (regulars range $16-$22). And be sure to leave room for dessert â whoopie pies, banana pudding, or local Ronnybrook soft-serve ice cream ($5 each). Dixonâs full bar includes regional craft beer favorites by Sloop Brewing Co., Newburgh Brewing Co., West Kill Brewing, and others, as well as a list of cocktails and mocktails.
Dixonâs Roadside is currently open for dinner Thursday through Tuesday from 5-10 pm
