Hudson

Known as the Downtown of Upstate New York, the city of Hudson, NY, is a cultural epicenter on the east side of the Hudson River, for which the city was named. A former factory town that struggled economically as recently as the 1960s and 1970s, Hudson is now an international destination for the arts, music and antiquing. With its bustling, walkable town center, weekly farmers market, annual Music Festival, Opera House, Brewing Company, Helsinki nightclub, Basilica multi-disciplinary arts center, townwide designer showcase, and numerous antique shops, Hudson provides locals and visitors with a plethora of entertainment opportunities all year round. Hudson is home to the second largest population in Columbia County, where it resides on the western border, 120 miles from New York Harbor, at the head of navigation on the Hudson River. It was chartered in 1785 and grew rapidly as a port city, coming within one vote of being named by the State legislature as the capital of New York.
