Port Jervis

Port Jervis is a city that’s rapidly being revitalized, taking advantage of the great stock of historic structures throughout the downtown. Affectionately known as “Port,”, it’s located at the confluence of the Neversink and Delaware rivers in western Orange County. The Tri-States Monument is located on a spit of land beneath the I-84 bridge over the Delaware River. This marks the spot where New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey come together – enabling one to stand in three states at once! The city is now the southernmost entry point for the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway, and along a major flyway for the American bald eagle. Port Jervis has served as a key transportation center for hundreds of years, first as a stop on the Old Mine Road, the first 100-mile road in America, then as a port on the Delaware and Hudson Canal, and today as the last stop on the 95-mile-long Port Jervis Line, the commuter railroad service from Hoboken, New Jersey and New York City (via a Secaucus Transfer). Finally, Port Jervis is well known for its Riverside Creamery, a well-preserved 1950s ice cream shop that features deep-fried ice cream.
