Middletown is a city in Orange County, New York, located near the Wallkill River and the foothills of the Shawangunk Mountains. About 1.5 hours from New York City, the town has both a country- and city-like atmosphere. Its relative distance from New York City makes it home to many commuters. From its busy activities calendar to its enticing array of restaurants, recreational activities abound. Highland Lakes State Park has more than 3,000 acres with spectacular lakes and trails—an idyllic place for hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and picnics. The surrounding area still reflects the region’s dairy farm roots. Middletown is also the site of the Orange County Fair each summer and the Orange County Fair Speedway. LEGOLAND in nearby Goshen will be a major amusement park with more than 50 rides, shows and attractions scattered through its seven themed lands, scheduled to open in 2021.
