If you love Christmas, big puppets and/or parades, and you've been considering taking a winter trip to Dutchess or Ulster County, this weekend in Rhinebeck, NY, is designed for you.
This Saturday, December 1, #LiveLikeALocal. We're celebrating Sinterklaas!, an "old Dutch tradition in the Hudson Valley" and an annual "day-long, colorful celebration that features childrenâs workshops, dance, theatre and music all over the village."
The festivities begin at 10 AM with the Bear Beauty Contest. The majestic Opening Ceremony takes place from 12 to 2 PM, followed by Toy Theater from 1 PM to 5 PM.
The Childrenâs Starlight Parade begins at 6 PM and closes out the celebration at twilight, featuring two-story-tall animated puppets carried by hundreds of volunteers.
Other events are held throughout the day, all across town. Download the full schedule.
A non-denominational event, Sinterklaas joins locals and visitors alike in a celebration of children, art and the winter season in Rhinebeck and throughout beautiful Upstate New York.
