Did You Know? Fun Maple Syrup Facts!

Production Powerhouse: While Vermont may be the first state that comes to mind when you think of maple syrup, New York is a major player in the industry! In 2024 alone, New York produced approximately 846,000 gallons of maple syrup, ranking second in the nation.

Nature’s Timing: The ideal conditions for maple syrup production are warm days and cold nights—just like the ones we experience in March!

A Lot of Sap for a Little Syrup: It takes 40 gallons of sap to make just one gallon of pure maple syrup.

Tree Longevity: A single maple tree can produce sap for up to 100 years—talk about a sweet legacy!

Not Just Any Tree: Sugar maples are the gold standard for syrup production, but black, silver, and red maples can also be tapped.

Nutritional Benefits: Maple syrup isn’t just delicious—it’s also rich in manganese, a mineral that helps maintain bones and connective tissue.

Proper Storage: Once opened, maple syrup should be refrigerated to maintain freshness. You can even freeze it for long-term storage!

Beyond the Bottle: Did you know maple wood is used in musical instruments because of its excellent sound quality? Plus, the maple leaf is a key symbol in Canadian military regalia.

Tree Juice Maple Syrup™ is made at Lazy Crazy Acres Farm. Nestled in the Drybrook Valley of the Catskills Mountains of New York, the Fairbairn family have owned and operated this 100+ acre farm since the 1930’s. In 2012, Jake Fairbairn, Ryan Annetts and Rae Brundage resurrected the family’s sugar shack, which had been unused for eight years, and began making Tree Juice Maple Syrup™.
Around 8,000 maple trees on the farm’s rolling hills are tapped each year. Miles of tubing gravity feed the sap to the sugar house where a wood fire evaporator turns the sap into sweet stuff.
